THE BRICK WALL

These are our  brick walls.  If you have more information about any of these people let us know.  Even small clues help, but with sources!

We would like more information about our  "mystery" Chandlers -- JOHN CHANDLER 2nd ,  also known as "Junior" and "Captain"  and  possible siblings, NATHANIEL, MERCY,  and ZEBEDEE.  Every once in a while a new  bit of information surfaces or someone may recall reading about a passing mention of them in another document that would be helpful to us.

Here are the rest.

The REBECCA CHANDLERS of Minot/Poland, Maine.  There were three of them.
First, Rebecca, who married Isaac Davis in 1806 in Poland, Maine.
Second, Rebecca, who married Robert Moody in 1812 in Minot.
Third, the Rebecca who married Jonathan Snow  in 1815 in Minot.  They were my ggg-grandparents.

We know that both Rev. John and his brother, Nathaniel, had daughters named Rebecca; however, that leaves one Rebecca with unknown parents.  I am guessing that father of this Rebecca may have been Abel Chandler (John and Sarah (Weston) Chandler). Abel had several daughters but we only know the name of one, Lucia. We are not sure which Rebecca married which spouse.  I think that Rev. John's Rebecca may have married Jonathan Snow.  Does anyone have any info?

UPDATED: TWO-THIRDS SOLVED!

We now know that:

Rebecca Chandler, daughter of Rev. John and Mercy (Sprague) Chandler married Robert Moody.

Rebecca Chandler, daughter of Nathaniel and Ruth (Fish) Chandler married first Isaac Davis and second, David Bradbury.

Details and sources can be found for their respective genealogies on the Capt. John database on this web site.

I believe, due to circumstantial evidence, that Abel and Sarah (Weston) Chandler were the parents of my ggg-grandmother, Rebecca Chandler who married Jonathan Snow. More details can be found in the notes section for Rebecca Chandler in Edmund's main lineage database. I still need documentation. I think that the John Chandler, who married Polly Bates, may have been her brother and would also like documentation for him.

Hugh Chandler - Please find me!!!!James Campbell is searching Hugh Chandler. His parents were Theodore and Margaret Chandler. On 1910 Census, Hugh didn't show up so it is assumed that he left the nest.

His siblings were Ruth 1894-1972, Agnes 1896-1987, Loretta 1900-1985, Infant 1903-1903, Mary d. 1971, Grace d. 1956. I figured that his birth year was before 1894. According to the obits of his parents and sisters, He was appeared alive at the death of his sister, Grace in 1956 and appeared as "late" at the death of his sister, Mary in 1971. I figured his death date was between 1956 and 1971. His step-mother's obit said all children were resided in Cleveland, Ohio.

Hugh is my ONLY chance to prove my lineage to Edmund Chandler because he was the only male child of Theodore Chandler. I have been pondered and got an idea... I hope my idea would give the incentive to Chandler researchers.

I will pay one DNA test to a proved male Albion (Hugh's grandfather) or Hugh Chandler's descendent. I am willing to pay the 25 points test. Do you know this man? Contact James for a large photo for close-up.

UPDATED: SOLVED! Hugh Joseph Chandler, Aug 6, 1885 - Oct. 1964, married to Artie Roush in 1917 at 31 yrs old. In the obit of Artie, Hugh had no children, took Artie's two sons from her previous marriage under his wings. I need a obit or a grave location of Hugh.

John W. CHANDLER. Seeking birth/death info (when/where) for g. g. grandfather John W. CHANDLER who was b. 1810/13 at E. Wakefield, MA, according to annotation on second son's marriage certificate. The first actual record for him was the 1850 US Census for Washington County, ME.

He m. in Washington County Sarah J. B. MEANS b. Surry, Hancock County, ME, 1823, and d. Rockland, Knox County, ME, 1878. They had three children all b. Washington County: John Vickery CHANDLER (b. 1844, d. 1888 at Rockland), Mary S. CHANDLER (b. & d. abt 1845 in Washington County), and Frank MEANS CHANDLER (b. 1856 and d. aft 1900 venue unknown). The family moved to Rockland in the mid 1860s and resided Rockland 186x -189x(?). John W. last mentioned in 1892 Rockland City Directory and was not in the 1900 US Census.

Two authors believe John W. is possibly a son of Barnabas Chandler, a branch of the Edmund lineage, but need proof, possibly a DNA sample from a living Barnabas descendant. Would appreciate any help. Many thanks. Bob Chandler RVChandler @ AOL.COM .
