 CHANDLER

DESCENDANTS!

The "Chandler Family Association" and the "Edmund Chandler Family Association" have joined forces in a Chandler DNA Project. This project may help solve several ongoing Chandler mysteries.

Chandler is an occupational name; therefore, we do not expect to find a common ancestor for all Chandlers. However, due to anecdotal evidence, we believe that some of the Chandler families may share a common ancestor.

To be eligible for the DNA test one must:

(1) HAVE THE CHANDLER SURNAME IN AN UNBROKEN LINE OF MALE DESCENT -
FATHER, GRANDFATHER, GG/GRANDFATHER, ETC.

OR

(2) DESCEND IN AN UNBROKEN MALE LINE FROM A MALE WHO WAS (OR MAY HAVE BEEN)
BORN A CHANDLER, BUT WAS ADOPTED OR OTHERWISE HAD A NAME CHANGE.

OR

(3) DESCEND IN AN UNBROKEN MALE LINE FROM A MALE WHOSE NAME WAS NEVER
CHANDLER, BUT WHOSE BIOLOGICAL FATHER WAS (OR WAS SUSPECTED TO BE) A CHANDLER.

Questions as to eligibility may be directed to JoeChandler@yahoo.com

While our two Associations are dedicated primarily to descendants of John Chandler of Virginia and Edmund Chandler of Massachusetts, we emphatically welcome descendants of other Chandler families to participate. Some of these lineages are listed on our web pages. If there is a question as to which Chandler immigrant one descends from, DNA testing may help resolve this. In New England descendants of several different Chandler families could sometimes be found in the same town.

As well as being able to solve individual questions, as Chandler descendants some of the questions that we seek answers through DNA testing include: Was Roger of Concord related to Edmund of Duxbury? Was Nicholas of Barbados related to John of Virginia? Where were the English origins of the various Chandlers?
